Mel Thomas has been running community and club fitness classes since 1999 and full time when she started her Fitness business, FitHaven in 2003. Mel is a fully qualified YMCA Exercise To Music fitness instructor, Level 3 Matwork Pilates instructor, Level 3 Training in Different Environments instructor, Nordic Walking UK/British Nordic Walking/LEKI Nordic Walking Instructor as well as numerous other class types to include Freestyle Fitness Yoga, FitSteps, Zumba, Kettlercise, Insanity, Aqua and many more.

Mel holds full Public Liability Insurance, St John’s Ambulance First Aid and PPL music licences. Mel specialises in large and small group indoor and outdoor exercise to people of all ages, levels and abilities, in a fun, friendly, infectious and effective way. Join Mel today, you won’t regret it!

About Mel

 

I was born in 1971, am originally from Ruislip, Middlesex and now living in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. I started dancing when I was 3 years old and although I have had a varied career (which has included working in Events & Marketing, for the airline Virgin Atlantic as a Flight Attendant and was a fully qualified Microsoft IT Trainer), my love of dancing and passion for working out in the fitness studio have remained strong and only partially satisfied by teaching in my spare time; so strong, in fact, that having gained a YMCA ETM Qualification in 1999 and further fitness education since I decided to dedicate myself to these passions full-time. In May 2003, FitHaven was the result of this decision!

Through FitHaven my aim is to bring highly motivational Fitness, Pilates, Nordic Walking, Clean Eating and Dance-inspired classes & small group personal training to clients and my local community that are above all effective, affordable and fun. I firmly believe that my expertise, motivation and inspiration can be harnessed for the benefit of anyone with a genuine desire to improve their quality of life using safe, consistent and effective methods of exercise, activity and nutritional guidance.

To continue with my on-going education and training I am a member of FitPro, YMCA-Fit, Choreography To Go, Nordic Walking UK, Multitrax, FitSteps, Powerhoop, Kettlercise and REPs plus continually re-educate through Active IQ and attend masterclasses, workshops and fitness events throughout the year.

Your classes are healer for not just me and I am sure there must be others like me who are crumbling inside and need to get out and do something. Because I love music and dance I choose to do fit step, Zumba and Salsacise. You have a radiant smile and bubbly character that makes our attendance worth while and you make any new comer feel so special and welcome. I am sure most of them in the class will echo this comment.
