Learn To Nordic Walk
Nordic Walking started as a summer training exercise for cross country skiers and now fitness walkers all over Europe have adopted Nordic Walking as a time efficient, low stress total body workout. Nordic Walking is a fun and social outdoor activity, with your friends, and being outdoors in the fresh air will give you a great sense of general wellbeing, boost energy levels and will leave you feeling invigorated!

Who is our Learn to Nordic Walking Course Suitable For:
FitHaven’s Learn to Nordic Walking Course is specifically aimed at the complete beginner to the Nordic Walking technique. It is also suitable for those who walk/ramble/hike already and want to try something new and for those who have never taken part in outdoor exercise before and want to give it a go. Regardless of your age, ability or fitness level this course will help give you a great foundation to this wonderful outdoor exercise experience and will give you MASSIVE health and fitness benefits along the way.
What to Expect…
We will teach you the ‘correct Nordic Walking technique’ and help to build up your fitness and stamina in order to prepare you for our other regular Fitness or Health Nordic Walking sessions we run. Attending this course is HIGHLY recommended so that you get the most out of ‘walking with poles’ and have found that this the best way to give you the ‘best technique training’ for your benefit and any future Nordic Walking you will take part in.
The Learn to Nordic Walking Course will include:
- NW Course Manual and Handouts
- Use of LEKI Nordic Walking poles
- Warm Up and Cool-down Stretches and exercises
- Practical technique instruction and NW feedback
- Progressive Nordic Walks each week (from 1 – 3.5 miles)
- Weekly support email and newsletter
Week 1/2 - Pole set up, use of poles, technique instruction, warm up and cooldown stretches and exercises, 1-3 mile Nordic Walk, feedback. Progression from Health Nordic Walking Level to Fitness Nordic Walking Level.

Learn to NW Course Fees: (See course fees in above table) Payment is to be made in FULL before or on the day of your first session and may be made by cash, credit or debit card. This session includes full Nordic Walking tuition on technique, hire of Nordic Walking poles, a practice and progressive Nordic walk of between 1-4.5 miles, weekly emails and handouts and full support during your time. What To Bring & Wear…
- LEKI Nordic Walking poles are provided on every Nordic Walking session.
- Feel free to bring and use your own Nordic Walking Poles if you have then, however, trekking poles are NOT suitable for this session.
- Wear suitable walking, running or approach trainers/boots.
- Wear lots of free moving light layers and bring waterproofs if the forecast is for rain.
- Denim jeans are NOT advised for this type of exercise, you will regret wearing them if you do!
- Sunglasses, caps and apply sunscreen if the weather is good.
- Wear gloves, hat and scarf if the weather cold.
- A small rucksack or backpack will be useful and bring plenty of water and a small snack too!
